Kitson has failed to score in 18 appearances for Stoke
Stoke City manager Tony Pulis has refused to blame his tactics and formation for the exit of Dave Kitson.
The striker has rejoined Reading on loan just eight months after becoming Stoke's record signing for £5.5m.
Pulis told BBC Radio Stoke: "Dave's never come to me and spoke about that. He's always been good, he's trained well and done all we've asked of him.
"We try and make this football club as warm and welcoming as we can, we've worked very hard to do that for Dave."
Kitson failed to score in the 18 appearances that he made for the Potters.
Pulis has tended to use the 29-year-old in a withdrawn role, rather than as a main striker, a position in which he was very successful for both Cambridge United and Reading before joining Stoke in June 2008.
