Stoke manager Tony Pulis has said there are more signings to come following the arrival of striker Dave Kitson.
Pulis told BBC Radio Stoke: "We will get more players in, it's just a matter of time, most people understand the way these things work.
"I will always try and put the football club first and that means doing the best deals I can with the chairman's [Peter Coates] money."
Kitson has linked up with the Potters on their pre-season tour of Austria.
The £5.5m paid for the 28-year-old has smashed Stoke's previous transfer record of £2m paid for Ryan Shawcross, but Pulis says the former Reading striker is worth the money.
"His goalscoring record is exceptional," said Pulis. "He has scored goals at every level he has played at and he will fit in well to the way we play.
"Everyone around the city will be delighted that we have got such a quality player."
Pulis also revealed that Stoke fought off competition from another Premier League club to secure Kitson's signature.
"We've nipped in before other clubs and one that has been in the Premier League for some time came in right at the death and tried to take Dave away from us."
Stoke begin their first season as a Premier League club away at Bolton on 16 August.
