Stoke have completed the signing of Standard Liege's Guinea international striker Sambegou Banguora, after their work permit application was approved.
Bangoura has become Stoke's record signing
The 23-year-old has signed a three-year contract at the Britannia Stadium.
However, Stoke have stated that the undisclosed transfer fee is a club record - beating the £600,000 they paid for Brynjar Gunnarsson in 1999.
"Sambegou was (boss) Johan Boskamp's number one target over the summer," chief executive Tony Scholes said.
"We're delighted that with the backing of the board, we have been able to bring him to the club, and we look forward to seeing him in action for Stoke."
