Potters grab Williams
Veteran defender Paul Williams has joined Stoke on a two-year contract after being released by Southampton.

The former Coventry player is expected to be drafted straight into the Potters squad for the Carling Cup first-round game against Rochdale at the Britannia Stadium on Tuesday.

The 32-year-old began his career at Derby and has also had a spell with Lincoln before earning a 750,000 move to Highfield Road in 1995.

He has made over 350 league appearances during his 14-year career.
