Cash-strapped Oldham have lost another key player with central defender Clint Hill joining Stoke City for a six-figure sum.
Hill has agreed a three-year deal at the Britannia Stadium, subject to passing a medical, and follows Fitz Hall, Chris Armstrong and Wayne Andrews out of Boundary Park.
Hill, 24, joined Oldham for £250,000 last summer and played 25 games for the club in a season disrupted by a broken leg.
"Clint is a player we have been interested in for some time," Stoke's director of football, John Rudge told the club's website.
"He was very highly-rated at Tranmere and tipped for a career in the Premiership."
Stoke made their move for Hill, who started over 150 games during his time at Tranmere, following the departure of Sergei Shtaniuk.
Stoke boss Tony Pulis is also understood to be trying to complete the signing of Coventry midfielder John Eustace.
