Greenacre joins Stoke
Chris Greenacre
Greenacre scored 21 goals last season for Mansfiefld
Stoke City manager Steve Cotterill has signed highly-rated striker Chris Greenacre on a free transfer from Mansfield.

The 24-year-old has agreed a three-year deal at the Britannia Stadium as City prepare for their first season in Division One since 1998.

Greenacre scored 49 goals in 121 matches for the Stags, who he helped to promotion from Division Two with 21 strikes last season.

"We are delighted to get him," said Cotterill.

"Without doubt Chris was one of the most promising young strikers in the lower divisions and is a player very much on the up.

"He is an excellent signing and is the player we wanted."

Former Manchester City trainee Greenacre signed for Mansfield three years ago after loan spells with Cardiff and Blackpool, and quickly established himself in the first team.

"I am delighted to sign for Stoke and I can't wait for the new season to start," said Greenacre.
