Stockport County's Supporters' Trust have completed its takeover of the club from former owners Cheshire Sport.
The move, originally agreed in April, has gone through after legal assurances from Cheshire Sport over the future ownership of Edgeley Park.
Trust chairman Norman Beverley said: "We've secured the best deal available.
"The club now belongs to thousands of fans who care deeply for Stockport County, rather than one owner who can decide to pull the plug at any time."
The deal contains safeguards which will ensure that the Hatters will remain at Edgeley Park - which they will continue to share with Sale rugby union club, who are also owned by Cheshire Sport.
The football and rugby clubs will share revenues raised at the ground, while there is also an option for County to buy the ground if circumstances allow.
Cheshire Sport chief executive Niels de Vos added: "Cheshire Sport will continue to provide significant financial support to the Trust, and is delighted to announce a six-year sponsorship agreement worth in excess of £750,000."
Meanwhile, millionaire and Gretna owner Brooks Mileson - who has ploughed money into several lower division clubs including Carlisle United and is a long-term supporter of the Trust - has accepted an invitation to become honorary vice-president of Stockport.
