Palmer takes wage cut
Stockport County boss Carlton Palmer has agreed to take a 50% pay-cut.
Assistant-manager Kevin Richardson will also halve his salary as County look to slash their wage-bill by £1m. "We have got to cut the wage bill by £1m by the end of next season," said Palmer. "Everyone will be taking a cut and that includes Ricco and myself. We will both be taking cuts of 50% for next season.
"I am on good money as I have been paid as a player/manager, but that will have to change," Palmer told the Stockport Express. The move comes despite chairman Brendan Elwood's decision to put a further £1m into the struggling Second Division club. County are still hoping to appoint former Chelsea, Rochdale and Swansea boss John Hollins in an advisory capacity.
