Stevenage won through to the semi-final of the FA Trophy as a second-half goal fest saw off the challenge of Forest Green Rovers.

Stevenage manager Graham Westley told BBC Three Counties Radio: "It was a tough encounter. They came here intent on making it difficult for us.

"I think we asserted authority after half-time and in a 15-20 minute period put the game out of their reach."

The draw for the two-legged semi-final is made on Monday

Andy Drury put Westley's side ahead on 23 minutes with a sweetly struck free-kick from the edge of the penalty area.

Forest Green had gone close through Andy Mangan.

Second-half headers from Andy Drury and Mark Roberts made the game safe, and talisman striker Steve Morison added to the visitors' misery with a low drilled shot that crept over the line.

Stevenage have now won their last eight games, with six clean-sheets, and are currently unbeaten in 15 games.

Westley added: "If you keep a clean sheet it reduces the emphasis on the front boys to hit the net.

"While we keep scoring at one end, and keep clean sheets at the other, we are obviously in good shape."
