Westley managed Rushden and Kettering after leaving Stevenage
Stevenage Borough manager Graham Westley said he jumped at the opportunity to return to his old club.
Westley is back at Boro having left in 2006 after taking charge of the club for three years.
He told BBC Three Counties Radio: "The moment was right for me to come back into football and I had some good times at Stevenage before.
"I feel I can come back, pick up where I left off and go on from there or else I wouldn't have done it," he added.
But he also revealed that Stevenage's star striker, Steve Morison, has put in a transfer request.
"He obviously wants to play at the highest level he can, he's got one career and wants to do it while he can. He suspects there's some interest out there in the market for him. "
