Kenny McLean has vowed to win more first-team appearances and supply ammunition to St Mirren's strikers after securing a contract extension.

The 18-year-old midfielder made his debut against Hamilton this month and has now signed until summer 2014.

"Knowing that I'll be here with St Mirren for another three years is brilliant," he told his club website.

"My target is to try and get more involved. I think I'm best going forward and creating for the strikers."

McLean has come through the ranks at St Mirren Park and has represented Scotland at under-19 level.

And, after coming on as a substitute against Accies for the Scottish Premier League club, he made his first start against Hearts on Saturday.

"I'll keep working away at training and hopefully go on to get more appearances in the first team," added McLean.

"I'm now here till at least 2014, but hopefully before then I can work my way into things and show what I can do."
