St Mirren manager Danny Lennon has returned to former club Cowdenbeath for his latest signing, Paul McQuade.

The 23-year-old forward, who scored 15 goals in the Second Division last season, has agreed a two-year deal.

"We have come to a financial agreement and I'm looking forward to working with Paul again," Lennon told BBC Scotland.

"There are a few others at Cowdenbeath that I would certainly be interested in but I tied them up on deals before I left, unfortunately for me now."

McQuade moved to Cowdenbeath from Dundonald Bluebell in January 2008 and proved an instant hit.

He struck 13 goals in season 2008/09 and was nominated for Second Division player of the year last term.

Lennon, who joined the Buddies earlier this month, has already taken defender Darren McGregor and his assistant Iain Jenkins from Central Park.

"It's been a whirlwind," Lennon explained, when asked about his first fortnight in charge of a top flight side.

"The staff at St Mirren have made the transition very smooth and I've got my feet firmly under the desk now."

Lennon has also brought defender David van Zanten back to the Paisley club but has only just started his summer shopping.

"I'll need to bring in nine or ten," he revealed.

"We'll travel with a squad of about 20 plus two goalkeepers, although we've got three at the minute.

"What I'm trying to do is get the smaller deals tied up , so that it then leaves me with a figure to perhaps attract that bit quality or a player with a bigger profile."
