MacPherson unhappy with dull draw

St Mirren manager Gus MacPherson

St Mirren manager Gus MacPherson expressed his disappointment with his players following a dull draw with Gretna in the SPL.

"The second half was slightly better, but the longer you go without scoring, the nerves and frustration kick in," said MacPherson.

"Anything you say after a performance like that just sounds like excuses.

"We'll have to strengthen and we'll maybe lose some players, but that's just the nature of modern football."

MacPherson went on to say his sights are now set on next season, although he insisted his side are still focused on their final match away to Inverness Caledonian Thistle in the SPL.

"If the players have anything about them, they want to finish as high as they can," said MacPherson.

"They don't want to see the season fritter out and go up there and just turn up - they want to try and win the game.

"Inverness is a tough place to go, but we'll go up there and try and win."
