MacPherson happy with home form

MacPherson has seen his fortunes improve on home soil

St Mirren manager Gus MacPherson was delighted to see Will Haining's late goal get the better of Kilmarnock.

"It's always a good time to score because there's not a lot of time to come back," he told BBC Sport.

"It was a typical end of season game, with not a lot of goalmouth incidents. The pitch was firm and bumpy and that slows things down.

"We're pleased to pick up another three points at home and it improves on last season's tally."

The Buddies have now lost just one of their last eight league matches at home, while they managed just three wins in Paisley during the last campaign.

"A lot was made of our poor home form last season but the players have shown character to get results," added MacPherson.

"We've been better in defence and that stops the crowd from turning on the players, which dents confidence.

"Recently we've been able to get that first goal and been able to relax.

"That's another clean sheet and we can use that as a platform to build for next season."
