St Johnstone have signed former Bradford City and Walsall goalkeeper Mark Paston on a one-year contract.

The 28-year-old, who has won eight senior caps for New Zealand, had impressed on trial for the Perth club.

Paston spent a season with Bradford, making 14 appearances, before moving to Walsall in the summer of 2004.

He left English League One outfit Walsall in February after eight months and 12 appearances and also recently had a trial for Rotherham.

Saints manager Owen Coyle told his club website: "I've seen enough of him in training to gauge his abilities and he will provide good competition to Kevin Cuthbert for the keeper's jersey."
