St Johnstone have signed goalkeeper Alan Miller from Blackburn Rovers on a three-month loan deal.

New Saints manager Billy Stark was desperate to bring in a new face to replace Alan Main, who has been ruled out for most of the season with a shattered shin.

Now 31-year-old Miller will also provide support for young goalkeeper Kevin Cuthbert.

Stark said: "We are delighted to have signed Alan on this loan deal.

"Kevin has done very well for us but we wanted more support in that position."

Stark admitted that Miller could win a permanent move should he prove his worth at McDiarmid Park.

Miller has most recently been on loan to Coventry City and Bristol City.

He began his career as a trainee with Arsenal and moved to Middlesbrough for 500,000 in 1997.

West Bromwich Albion was his next port of call in a 400,000 move before his switch to Blackburn last February.
