Revell feels the Blues need to develop a tougher edge to their game.
Southend forward Alex Revell says his team must toughen up if they are to mount a promotion challenge.
Revell told BBC Essex: "We're always saying we are a top-six side but we need to prove that now.
"It's not nice to look at the table and you're in the bottom half, so we need to work that little bit harder.
"None of us are wimps and we all want to win. But we just need to be a tough side to play against and I think we need to get that into our game."
And the 25-year-old reckoned the Blues could learn from the team that was leading the promotion race.
"Even though Leicester are top of the league and play some great stuff, they still get about you and still put a tackle in when it's there to be won," he added.
