Tilson's side will see the new year in with a trip to Stamford Bridge
Southend United manager Steve Tilson said their FA Cup tie with Chelsea was the "best draw" they could get.
The Blues will face the Premier League leaders in the third round, after beating Luton 3-1 on Saturday.
Tilson told BBC Essex: "Over the past two or three seasons we've played Tottenham, Man United and now we've added Chelsea to that collection.
"It's great for the club - the fans, players, everyone involved - we couldn't get a better draw."
He added: "Obviously we would have a lot more chance at home but it's a great draw and the club are going to earn a bit of money out of it."
And Tilson said hopes the extra revenue the trip to Stamford Bridge on the first weekend of 2009 would bring, will help the club in their chase for promotion from League One.
"That's going to come along nicely because it will be in January, so hopefully we will get as much [money] as we can and I can start bringing a few new players in."
