Clapham joined Leicester from Wolves earlier this year
Southend United have chosen not to sign Jamie Clapham, following his trial with the Essex club.
The 32-year-old former Ipswich, Birmingham and Wolves left-back was set to feature in the Blue's pre-season match with Chelmsford City.
However, manager Steve Tilson told the club's website Clapham would not be a part of his plans for the new season.
"Jamie will not be signing for us", he said. "We have decided to look elsewhere for a left-back."
The former Tottenham trainee played for Leyton Orient and Bristol Rovers before spending five seasons at Portman Road from 1998, where he made over 200 appearances for the Suffolk side.
He has since played for Birmingham, Wolves, Leeds and most recently Leicester City.
