McCormack signs new Southend deal

Southend United midfielder Alan McCormack has signed a new three-year contract with the League One club.

The 24-year-old Irishman scored nine goals for the Shrimpers last season as they reached the play-off semi-finals.

McCormack had 12 months left on his previous deal but, with a number of clubs intrested in him,the club have secured him on a long term deal.

McCormack said: "I know it was put out that I rejected the club's first offer but I was never looking to get away."
