Goater makes emotional farewell

Southend striker Shaun Goater was in emotional mood after the Shrimpers' win over his former club Bristol City - his final game before retirement.

Several hundred fans from another of Goater's old teams, Manchester City, were also present to cheer him off.

"Coming off it was hard to contain my tears," Goater told BBC Essex.

"The send off I got from the three sets of fans, thanking me for my services and for the person I have been in football, is the best ever."
