Burley wants stability at Saints
Southampton manager George Burley
Burley will be in the middle of a power struggle
George Burley has called for stability at Southampton after hinting he could have moved on during the close-season.

Saints boss Burley will be in the middle of a boardroom power struggle at St Mary's next month.

Chairman Rupert Lowe could be ousted at an extraordinary general meeting called by majority shareholder Michael Wilde.

Burley said: "There might have been opportunities to move, but we're in a position to build. To do that at any club, you need stability."

Burley was speaking at a news conference at St Mary's as the power struggle heats up ahead of the 3 July meeting.

Lowe has invited supporters' groups to a forum at the club's ground as he faces a battle to stay in power at St Mary's.

Wilde holds almost 25% of Saints' shares while local businessman Leon Crouch - who holds 10% of shares - has also called for Lowe's removal.

But Lowe has resisted calls for his resignation and feels he can muster enough support to stay in power.
