Crystal Palace have completed the signing of 23-year-old defender Fitz Hall from Southampton for £1.5m after the player agreed personal terms.
Hall made 11 Premiership appearances for Saints
Hall previously played under manager Iain Dowie at Oldham and was bought by Saints 11 months ago for £250,000.
"I'm delighted to add Fitz to the squad," Dowie told the club's website. "I know he will be a top-class player for Palace for many years to come.
"I worked with him at Oldham and he can play at the back or in midfield."
Southampton were unwilling to part with the player but allowed him to leave once it became clear he wanted to rejoin Dowie.
Saints chairman Rupert Lowe said prior to him signing: "Fitz is a very good young player and we wanted to keep him.
"We tried to keep him but if his heart is not with Saints then it is better that he moves on.
"I think the chance to link up with Iain Dowie again was a big factor for Fitz.
"It may be a blow to lose Fitz but people need not worry about whether he will have a successor.
"We have somebody in mind and if the need arises we would expect to replace him within the next week or so."
