Lowe bemoans Beasley snub
Southampton chairman Rupert Lowe
Lowe believes Beasley would be a success in the Premiership
Southampton chairman Rupert Lowe says he is disappointed to have had a bid for United States international winger DaMarcus Beasley rejected.

Lowe revealed that Saints had made a "substantial offer" for the 22-year-old, who plays for Chicago Fire.

But Major League Soccer, who hold the registration of all players in the US game, turned down the bid.

"It is regrettable because he would be a big success in English football," said Lowe.

"He could have made a great impact."

But Lowe said it was unlikely that they would make an improved offer for the player.

"We made a very substantial offer but we are not prepared to go any higher," he added.
