Midfielder Nathan Rooney has been given the chance to impress on trial at Shrewsbury after being released by Wolves this week.

The 18-year-old from Telford will train with the Shrews for two weeks, hoping to get a deal for next season.

"You always have an eye on the longer term future," Town boss Graham Turner told BBC Radio Shropshire.

"I've seen Nathan recently with Wolves reserves against Manchester United and Arsenal - he looked good in both."

He first joined Wolves at the age of eight, and graduated from the club's academy to join the senior ranks at the start of this season - and has captained their reserve side.
