Lewis Neal keen to prove his talent

Lewis Neal says he is determined to prove himself at another league club after his release from Shrewsbury Town.

The 29-year-old made 22 starts for Shrewsbury last season, but has managed just three League Two appearances from the bench in this year's campaign.

Neal told BBC Radio Shropshire: "I've been inconsistent - the club hasn't seen the best of me but I believe I still have a lot to offer.

"It's up to me to sell myself to another league club."

Neal started his career with Stoke in 2000 and played 82 games, before moving to Preston in 2005.

After 65 league games at Deepdale, he joined Carlisle in the January transfer window two years ago, after a brief loan spell at Notts County.

"I have no concrete options at the moment and being out of work is hard on my family, but my wife knows this is what can happen in football," Neal added.

"But I'm fit and ready to move on - perhaps even abroad if such an offer came along."
