Andrew Tutte wants to impress Manchester City

Midfielder Andrew Tutte has pledged to impress parent club Manchester City by bringing success to Shrewsbury during his month-long loan deal.

"League games are all about winning three points, while academy and reserve football at City is about development," Tutte, 20, told BBC Radio Shropshire.

"City have so many big names it's hard for young lads to break into the squad.

"I know Manchester City will be watching me, and the best way to impress is to be in a winning side."

Tutte, who has also been involved with the England Under-19s and Under-20s, joined the City academy at the age of eight after being spotted playing in his home city of Liverpool.

"It's fantastic mixing with the first-teamers at City," he added. "I look at them sometimes and go 'phew'.

"There's some great talent there, but being a midfielder I base my game round what I see with the likes of Gareth Barry and Nigel de Jong."

He spent the first three months of the season on loan at League One side Rochdale, making nine first-team appearances.

He signed a four-week loan deal just before the emergency loan transfer window closed with Shrewsbury, who are pressing for promotion from League Two.

"It's a good time to freshen up the squad, to keep people on their toes," said Shrews boss Graham Turner.
