Break helped Waide Fairhurst, says Paul Simpson

Shrewsbury boss Paul Simpson believes on-loan striker Waide Fairhurst has sharpened his game since being handed a short break to return home.

Fairhurst, who scored the opener in Tuesday's 2-0 win over Rotherham, was allowed to return to Doncaster.

And Simpson told BBC Radio Shropshire: "His time here is his first away from home, he was feeling a bit homesick.

"But he's come back with a spring in his step after a few days in Doncaster. I hope we'll see a lot more from him."

The 20-year-old joined the Shrews on an initial one-month loan deal from Doncaster, which was recently extended until January.

He scored on his Town debut in the 3-1 win over Aldershot on 24 October and his strike against Rotherham in Tuesday's 2-0 victory was his fourth for his adopted club.

"He's looking lively, he's a goalscorer, and he wants to score goals," Simpson added.
