Shrewsbury boss Paul Simpson has released seven players after their League Two play-off final defeat.

Striker Nick Chadwick and left-back Neil Ashton, who both started the 1-0 Wembley defeat by Gillingham, are amongst the players to go.

Frontmen Michael Symes and Moses Ashikodi, keeper Jasbir Singh and defender Ben Herd and Stephen Hindmarch are also out of work.

Six players have all been offered new deals by Simpson.

The manager started work on his retention list on Sunday and spoke to the out-of-contract players on Monday morning.

Midfielders Ben Davies, Steven Leslie, Chris Humphrey, striker Omer Riza and defenders Darren Moss and Kelvin Langmead are all considering new deals with the club.

On-loan striker Richard Walker will not be offered a new contract by the club.

You can hear a special look back at the League Two play-off final at Wembley on BBC Radio Shropshire's 'Extra Time' with James Bond on 96 FM on Tuesday evening from 1900 BST.
