Shrews fury over Humphrey injury

Chris Humphrey
Humphrey's broken jaw will rule him out for up to eight weeks

Shrewsbury are fuming over the incident that saw Chris Humphrey break his jaw during Saturday's draw with Lincoln.

"We had Richard Walker sent off, but when Chris was elbowed in the face there wasn't even a foul given," said Town skipper Ben Davies.

Shrews boss Paul Simpson said: "It was a really aggressive challenge, and he could be out for eight weeks.

"I sometimes wonder if officials know the difference between violent conduct and niggly fouls."

Humphrey had been establishing himself on the first-team scene.

"He's been getting better with every game," said former Town midfielder and BBC Shropshire summariser Steve Cross.

"He has a lot of pace and skill, and he's turning into a really good player under Paul Simpson.

"He'll be missed."
