The new Shrewsbury Town stadium has been named The Prostar Stadium, after over a year without a title.

The club has signed a four-year deal for a name that reflects the brand of their new kit manufacturers.

"It had to be commercially right, and also a fitting name for a fabulous sporting stadium," the club's Rob Bickerton told BBC Radio Shropshire.

"Some fans might've preferred The New Meadow. But the balance is it's a good name tied to a significant cash deal."

When pressed, Bickerton would not reveal the amount of money involved.

"When we make an approach for a player, he and his agent and the selling club think Shrewsbury are rich, so they inflate any demands," he said.

"That's not the case. We are living within our means and working hard to attract new investment and new income to get the players who hopefully will be successful for us."

The club has also revealed its new Prostar kit, which retains the traditional blue and amber for the home shirts, with a black and red design for its change strip.
