Shrewsbury boss Gary Peters says the emergence of Kelvin Langmead played a big part in the decision to allow striker Mark Stallard to join Lincoln.
"Mark went because it is a good deal for him and the right deal for the club," Peters told the Shrews website.
"It was always going to be tough for Mark to shift Kelvin out of the team as they are very similar players.
"Kelvin is young and getting better all the time and we would maybe see him as our number one choice."
