Quinn hails hero Howie
Shrewsbury boss Jimmy Quinn
Shrewsbury player-manager Jimmy Quinn revealed their Conference play-off final penalty shootout win over Aldershot was due to Scott Howie.

The keeper saved three spot-kicks and Quinn said he had done his homework on the Shots penalty-takers.

"We studied their penalties in the semi-final against Hereford and Scott took them home and looked at them night after night," said Quinn.

"I just cannot believe we've won like this, it's so emotional."

Quinn added: "The match was tense for both sets of players, there's so much riding on it. I feel so sorry for Aldershot and Terry Brown, it's unbelievable.

"My players gave every ounce of effort today and the fans were fantastic too, it was an amazing atmosphere.

"We would have liked to have won it inside 90 minutes but we deserved it in the end."
