Sheffield Wednesday have signed Carlisle United forward Gary Madine and Motherwell defender Mark Reynolds for undisclosed fees.

Madine, 20, came through the Brunton Park academy set up and has scored 22 goals in 88 appearances for the club.

Reynolds, 23, played 192 games for Motherwell and has also represented Scotland at Under-21 level.

The length of Reynolds' deal has not yet been released but Madine has penned a four-and-a-half-year deal.

Wednesday manager Alan Irvine told the club website: "Gary is a good young striker who I have been monitoring for some time.

"He's a big lad, very good in the air and has a good touch. He is aggressive, he scores goals and has a lot of promise and potential."

Talking about the arrival of Reynolds, Irvine added: "Mark is very quick and has played a lot of games for someone of 23. He can play at left-back or centre-back and will add more quality to the squad."
