Sheffield Wednesday have completed the signing of midfielder Giles Coke after his contract at Motherwell expired.

The 24-year-old has signed a three-year deal at Hillsborough and is the Owls' fifth summer signing.

Coke, who rejected the offer of a new deal, told Motherwell's website: "I loved my time at Motherwell.

"Motherwell offered me a really good deal but the attraction of moving to a club like Sheffield Wednesday was too much for me to turn down."

Wednesday have already secured the services of Chris Sedgwick, Jon Otsemobor, Paul Heffernan and Daniel Jones as the Owls look to win promotion back to the Championship at the first attempt.

And manager Alan Irvine told the club website: "Giles is a two-footed, athletic midfielder.

"I have been aware of him since his time at Mansfield and Northampton.

"He has played a lot of games in League One and a lot of games for his age."

Coke joined Motherwell from Northampton Town last summer and went on to make 35 appearances for the Scottish Premier League club.

Motherwell manager Craig Brown told his club website: "We were hopeful Giles would stay on but respect his decision to move on.

"He had a good year up here and the move has helped his career.

"He's a good player and I am sure he'll go on to be a big player for Wednesday next season."
