Strafford was appointed to the Owls board in December
Sheffield Wednesday chairman Lee Strafford has been in San Francisco talking to possible suitors who may want to invest at Hillsborough.
Strafford says talks have gone well and there is interest in Wednesday's business plan in the United States.
He told BBC Radio Sheffield: "We've been meeting people, but are a long way off finalising anything at this point."
The businessman was unveiled as chairman in January and has since been trying to attract investment.
"We're not searching, that suggests we're blindly scrabbling around. We are meeting with investors and they're interested in how we finished the season," he added.
"We've been having positive discussions with people in the United States for a couple of months.
"I want to caution Wednesday fans, a load of money isn't going to turn up tomorrow but we are working hard in the background."
