Sheffield United claim Orient fan spat at Matt Phillips

Sheffield United intend to lodge a formal complaint to the Football League after accusing a Leyton Orient fan of spitting at Matt Phillips.

Manager Danny Wilson told BBC Radio Sheffield: "I'm sure we'll find out who it was who spat in Matty Phillips' face. It's absolutely disgusting."

United claim a home fan entered their technical area at the end of Saturday's 1-1 draw and spat at the player.

"We'll look at all the evidence and lodge a complaint," added Wilson.

The incident happened after Kevin Lisbie snatched a 96th-minute equaliser for Russell Slade's side provoking angry scenes between the visitors' bench and home crowd.

The 20-year-old Phillips, who is on loan from Blackpool, was standing in the technical area when he was approached, having earlier been replaced by Lee Williamson.
