Blades captain Morgan fit to return for Burnley game

Sheffield United captain Chris Morgan has declared himself fit for this Saturday's home game with Burnley.

The 32-year-old, who has struggled with calf and hamstring problems this season, has not started since the Portsmouth game on 18 September.

But he came through Tuesday's reserve team test against Port Vale.

"It's frustrating," Morgan told BBC Radio Sheffield. "I've just picked up a couple of niggly muscle injuries. First my calf, then my hamstring."

Morgan, who was on the bench for last weekend's home defeat by Watford, has now missed three successive games since lasting just 24 minutes against Portsmouth.

"Nobody likes coming off that early in a match," said Morgan. "I didn't feel anything in the warm-up but felt it five or 10 minutes into the match so I just tried playing on."

After three wins in four games under new boss Gary speed, the Blades have slipped back to 19th in the Championship, just three points away from danger, having picked up just one point out of a possible nine since the Portsmouth game.

Following Saturday's home date with high-flying Burnley, they then face two away Yorkshire derbies next week at Hull and Doncaster.
