Chris Morgan agrees new three year deal at Sheff Utd

Sheffield United captain Chris Morgan has signed a new three-year contract at Bramall Lane.

The 32-year-old defender joined the Blades in 2003 and has made nearly 250 appearances for the club.

Chief Executive Trevor Birch told the club's official site: "This is a vitally important signing because Chris embodies the spirit of the Blades.

"Add to that his tireless work in the community and you have someone who's an absolute credit to Sheffield United."

Despite some reports suggesting Morgan would take up a coaching position at Bramall Lane, Birch said that wasn't the case.

"Whilst we were willing to insert a coaching clause in the contract, Chris felt he wanted to maximise his playing opportunities for as long as possible."
