Kyle Naughton made his Under-21 debut on home soil on Tuesday night.
England Under-21 boss Stuart Pearce believes Sheffield United's rising star Kyle Naughton has a bright future.
The 20-year-old defender made his international debut in front of his home-town crowd in Tuesday night's friendly against the Czech Republic.
Naughton came on as a second-half substitute in front of 19,000 fans at Bramall Lane in England's 2-0 win.
Pearce told BBC Radio Sheffield: "If he keeps listening to his manager and doing well he has a bright future."
Pearce was impressed by the composure Naughton showed on his international debut.
"The likes of Naughton and Fabian Delph showed no nerves," he said. "It gave us a lift more than anything else and that is pleasing for the manager.
Tottenham striker Fraizer Campbell, on loan at White Hart Lane from Manchester United, opened the scoring before Aston Villa's Craig Gardner doubled the lead with a well-taken second-half free-kick.
But Pearce was delighted with the performance, admitting: "For a team that is quite light in terms of caps, and with a lot of players who have come in for their first chance, I am pleased to have come away with a victory."
