Kenny to be offered new contract

Sheffield United manager Kevin Blackwell wants to agree terms on a new contract with goalkeeper Paddy Kenny.

The 30-year-old's current deal runs out at the end of the season but he does have the option of a further year.

Blackwell told BBC Radio Sheffield: "He looks a lot slimmer, trimmer, he's very sharp and got great hands.

"Please God we will sit down with him and talk about a longer contract, he is just 30 and I think his best years are ahead of him."

The Halifax-born shot stopper joined the Blades from Blackwell's old club Bury in 2002.

"Paddy came here because of me and Neil Warnock," said Blackwell.

"We felt there was only one player at Bury that we could go back and get and he has proved to be a steal.

"I am surprised that Paddy hasn't gone on to a higher level because he has got a mental capacity to deal with things, he is as bright and as sharp as I have seen him," he added.
