Scunthorpe United goalkeeper Joe Murphy has agreed a new two-year contract to extend his stay at Glanford Park, BBC Radio Humberside understands.

The 27-year-old Republic of Ireland international will sign the deal when the team resumes training on Wednesday.

Murphy began his career as a trainee at Tranmere Rovers in August 1998 and signed for West Brom in July 2002.

After two loan spells at Walsall, the Dubliner joined Scunthorpe on a free transfer from Sunderland in May 2006.
