O'Connor is out of favour at Crewe after a string of disciplinary incidents
Scunthorpe United are set to sign Crewe Alexandra midfielder Michael O'Connor on Friday, reports BBC Radio Stoke.
The deal will see the Northern Ireland international, 21, move to Glanford Park for a six-figure undisclosed fee.
Crewe manager Gudjon Thordarson told BBC Radio Stoke: "Scunthorpe approached the club and we've agreed a fee. It's clear that he will go there now.
"It's a good challenge for him and I wish him all the best. I hope he does well in the Championship."
Thordarson added: "We've now sold two players (striker Tom Pope left to join Rotherham United), but it's a tight situation here and we need to be careful."
O'Connor fell out with Thordarson in February, and was subsequently allowed to leave the club to join Lincoln City on loan.
A product of Crewe's famous academy, O'Connor has made 89 appearances for the Alex.
Thordarson has also missed out on signing a defensive player from a 'top league' in Europe.
Talks had taken place to sign the player, but the move fell through on Friday morning.
