Scunthorpe United could face punishment from the Football Association after a bottle-throwing incident during Saturday's home game with Swindon Town.
One was hurled on to the pitch and referee Dave Foster has included the matter in his match report.
Some visiting fans were ejected from the game which ended 3-3.
Chief executive Jamie Hammond said: "I spoke to my counterpart [at Swindon] and they wanted to know why they'd been ejected with a view to taking action."
United hope there will be no repeat of the problems when they host Rochdale in the Johnstone's Paint Trophy.
