Iron receive Hooper injury boost

Gary Hooper
Hooper's goals have taken Scunthorpe to the top of the table

Fears that Scunthorpe United striker Gary Hooper could be out for six months with a broken foot have eased.

X-rays have revealed no break after their top scorer picked up the injury during the 3-0 defeat at Oldham.

Iron manager Nigel Adkins told BBC Radio Humberside: "It's just badly bruised so we'll treat that accordingly but the big thing is there's no break.

"The worry was he could be out for up to 27 weeks but he's touch and go for Saturday's game against Swindon."

Hooper has led the line brilliantly this season for Scunthorpe and his nine goals have taken them to the top in the League One table.

Adkins added: "Gary is a big player for us so the fact he's not got anything broken is good news."
