Byrne joined the Iron from Sunderland five years ago
Scunthorpe United right-back Cliff Byrne has signed a contract extension that will keep him at Glanford Park until 2010.
The former Republic of Ireland Under-21 international, 26, joined the Iron from Sunderland in 2003, having previously spent a loan spell with the club.
Byrne has played almost 200 times for the club and helped them win promotion to the Championship in 2006/07.
However, he struggled at times last season after suffering a broken leg.
