Scunthorpe chairman returns home

Steve Wharton
Wharton is recovering after a suspected heart attack

Scunthorpe United chairman Steve Wharton has been released from hospital and is at home recovering from a suspected heart attack.

The Iron chairman has been under observation since being taken ill suddenly on 17 March.

Scunthorpe boss Nigel Adkins told BBC Radio Humberside at the time: "It's very unfortunate for the chairman and we wish him a speedy recovery."

Wharton is in his second spell as chairman of the Championship side.

He originally resigned from his position in 2001 after the Iron missed out on promotion but took up the post again in 2004.
