Midfielder Sean McClare has agreed a short-term deal with Scarborough.
The 27-year-old, who was a team-mate of boss Neil Redfearn, has signed for a month after joining the squad last week on non-contract terms.
Boro are also running the rule over ex-Halifax defender Karl Colley, 23, but has registered him on Conference forms while he regains full fitness.
Meanwhile midfielder Ben Rix has returned to Crewe following a loan spell at Scarborough.
