Salisbury City have agreed to keep Gillingham defender Sean Clohessy on loan until the end of the season.
The full-back has just completed a three-month stint at the Raymond McEnhill Stadium.
Manager Nick Holmes told BBC Radio Wiltshire he was keen to keep hold of the 22-year-old.
"He's been a credit to himself and his football club, the way he's handled it. We're obviously pleased to keep him. He realises it's a good stage," he said.
Clohessy has played nearly 50 games for Gillingham and has impressed the Salisbury coaching staff since arriving in Wiltshire in September.
The defender said he was happy to stay with the Whites.
"It wasn't a hard choice at all," said Clohessy. "They've given me the chance to play football that I badly needed and its just repaying them. I've enjoyed my time here."
