Rushden & Diamonds raise funds towards club's survival

Rushden & Diamonds

Rushden & Diamonds fans are forming a task group in a bid to help the club with their financial issues.

The Blue Square Bet Premier club may need to raise £250,000 or could enter a Company Voluntary Arrangement, administration or liquidation.

Speaking at a fans' meeting, former club chairman Keith Cousins told BBC Radio Northampton: "The fans are very passionate in what they want to do.

"They (have) a scheme that is going to meet all the costs of the club."

He added: "That is going to be by various actions - by buying season tickets or making donations in order to meet the costs and the debts."

In co-operation with the supporters trust, a small committee is being proposed that would lead the fans' efforts to pay off debts and help sustain the club in the future.

Supporters have already set up Facebook and Twitter campaigns to raise funds.
